The Problem With Youth.

22 Words puts a great quote issues related to morality and youth.

Understanding teenage rebellion only as sex, drugs, and rock’n’roll implies that the goal is celibacy, sobriety, and employment. It’s not.

It’s Jesus.

From 70K to Food Bank.

In these days of financial anguish, it’s amazing to see the hope that continues to shine through debt, worry and tears. Families across the nation have been hit hard these last few months. Women and children continue to be the fastest growing section of homeless individuals.
It’s the little things that count. Take a look at this recent CNN article about a family that went from living on $70,000 a year to needing to utilize their local food bank. It can be life-altering for someone to come to the point of needing help, but what a beautiful reflection of God’s grace - when people step up and give of themselves to bless others in need. Whether it means volunteering at a food bank, offering to pay for somebody’s utility bill that month or just spending time with someone who is lonely. There are countless ways for you to reach out.
How will you be Jesus’ hands and feet today?

Not Merely Expiation - A NEED for Propitiation

“… if you look ath the RSV or NEB versions.. you will find that the word propitiation does not appear. In both John 1 passages, NEB has “remedy for the defilement” of our sins; elsewhere, there versions replace the thought of propitiation by that of expiation. What is the difference? The difference is that expiation means only half of what propitiation means. Expiation is an action that has sin as its object; it denotes the covering, putting away, or rubbing out of sin so that it no longer constitutes a barrier to friendly fellowship between man and God. Propitiation, however, in the Bible, denotes all the expiation means, and pacifying the wrath of God thereby. So, it at any rate, Christian scholars have maintained since the Reformation, when these things first began to be studied with precision, and the case can still be made compelling today.”

A New Book I Want.

Is the God of Calvin a fountain of blessing, or a forceful tyrant? Is Calvin’s view of God coercive, leaving no place for the human qua human in redemption? These are perennial questions about Calvin’s theology which have been given new life by Gift theologians such as John Milbank, Graham Ward, and Stephen Webb. J. Todd Billings addresses these questions by exploring Calvin’s theology of “participation in Christ.” He argues that Calvin’s theology of “participation” gives a positive place to the human, such that grace fulfills rather than destroys nature, affirming a differentiated union of God and humanity in creation and redemption. Calvin’s trinitarian theology extends to his view of prayer, sacraments, the law, and the ecclesial and civil orders. In light of Calvin’s doctrine of participation, Billings reframes the critiques of Calvin in the Gift discussion and opens up new possibilities for contemporary theology, ecumenical theology, and Calvin scholarship as well.

Theology Articles Coming to a Language near YOU.

One thing you might know about me is that my last name is Lopez yet I speak no other languages aside from English… unless HTML counts, but this seems like a great project and I see this being beneficial to any church or ministry that has ties to other countries or other languages. Its called GOSPEL TRANSLATIONS and they basically they get articles from 9marks, dg, and sovereign grace, and ask volunteers to sign up to translate them, check them, and post them… pretty neat huh. So, spread the word and check out the site by CLICKING HERE.
